Naples hosts the presentation of “Terra del Sole,” a pioneer in agrivoltaics

During the first week of October, Terra del Sole was presented in Naples, as an ambitious and revolutionary project that promises to mark a new course for agriculture and clean energy in Italy.
As NextEnergy Group’s flagship agrivoltaic project, Terra del Sole represents a turning point and demonstrates how technology can serve agricultural tradition. The asset’s innovative design involves the installation of solar panels raised above the ground, above the crops and well spaced between the rows, allowing energy to be generated from renewable sources without sacrificing agricultural land. Covering an area of 130 hectares, the plant will produce over 130 GWh of clean electricity per year, enough to meet the needs of more than 48,000 households and avoid the emission of over 60,000 tons of CO2, while improving crop yield and productivity. Thanks to the partial shading and microclimate created under the panels, crops benefit from a natural shield against excessive heat and intense solar radiation. This protection reduces thermal and water stress, improving plant health and resulting in higher quality fruit and vegetables.
The initiative was presented at the conference “Terra del Sole: Naples calls Italian farmers towards the most innovative and sustainable agrivoltaic park in Italy” promoted by Fondazione UniVerde, Coldiretti Campania, and NextEnergy Group, with the patronage of the Municipality of Naples and Rai Campania. The event, attended by representatives of institutions, public bodies, trade associations, and various stakeholders, took place in the prestigious Sala della Loggia del Maschio Angioino and was streamed live on Radio Radicale, with media partnership from Rai Radio 1, TGR, Il Mattino, Askanews, and Opera2030.
