The acquisition strengthens Starlight’s activities in the Italian market, internalising new competencies to support the division’s growth objectives.

Founded in 2007 and based in Popoli, Abruzzo, Entrope has extensive experience in the identification, design and development of various renewable energy projects through a range of technologies (solar PV, batteries and wind). For over half a decade, Entrope has been a relevant partner for Starlight’s growth in the Italian market, which still plays a key role in NextEnergy Group’s expansion strategy. This acquisition also reinforces Starlight’s ability to export to other countries frontier skills and knowledge in sectors such as agrovoltaic and wind.

Starlight’s acquisition of Entrope follows the successful completion of a previous deal last March that resulted in the internalisation of the Intelligent Alternatives team, the UK’s leading renewable energy company.

Gianluca Boccanera, Global Managing Director of Starlight, commented:

“This transaction not only strengthens Starlight’s presence in Italy, but follows the one concluded a few months ago in the UK on the same vein and aims to further refine the scope of in-house expertise ranging from the initial stages of identifying new opportunities to the completion of the various authorisation processes, ensuring alignment with the highest technical and quality standards for our projects. This acquisition is perfectly in line with our growth strategy, ensuring that Starlight continues to be a leader in the ethical development of renewable energy plants, both in Italy and globally”.

The acquisition adds ten more professionals to Starlight’s team, which now totals nearly 50, significantly increasing Starlight’s experience and capabilities. Looking forward, it is expected that the integration of this team will lead to the development of innovative projects, such as hybrid plants that combine renewable and green hydrogen storage and production technologies, which will not only serve as a benchmark for the industry, but also contribute significantly to accelerating the transition process towards the use of renewable energy globally.
